Bobbi Kristina Brown is dead at 22 after four weeks in hospice care. The Houston family announced her death in a statement:
“Bobbi Kristina Brown passed away July 26, 2015, surrounded by her family,” reads the statement. “She is finally at peace in the arms of God. We want to again thank everyone for their tremendous amount of love and support during these last few months.”
Bobbi Kristina’s father, Bobby Brown, is devastated by her death. “Krissy was and is an angel,” Brown said in a statement July 17. “I am completely numb at this time. My family must find a way to live with her in spirit and honor her memory. Our loss is unimaginable. We thank everyone for the prayers for Krissy and our family as we mourn my baby girl.”
Bobbi Kristina’s death comes shortly after her cousin Jerod Brown revealed Bobbi Kristina considered suicide before she was found unconscious in her bathtub six months ago. Bobbi Kristina never got over the tragic 2012 death of her mom Whitney Houston and was severely depressed before her hospitalization.
“She was very depressed,” Jerod Brown, the son of Bobby Brown’s late sister, Bethy, told the Mirror July 26. “She would call me often and say she was dealing with her [mom’s death]. We talked about suicide and I would talk her down from it, explaining it wasn’t the right thing to do. I had been there myself, so I would talk to her about it and we would get her through it.”
Jerod continued: “I told her she had more to live for and her mother wouldn’t have wanted that. But her mind was that of a depressed woman. Whitney was her best friend. They were together every day. Just before the [drowning] incident she said her mother was visiting her in her dreams every night.”
Bobbi Kristina had been unconscious since her drowning Jan. 31. On June 24, Bobbi Kristina was moved to hospice care after doctors determined she suffered irreversible brain damage and nothing more could be done to help her.
Perched at her bedside was a photo of her mom Whitney Houston. Security guards stand outside Bobbi Kristina’s room at the Peachtree Christian Hospice while family members took turns staying by her bedside. Bobbi Kristina’s dad, Bobby Brown, and her aunt Pat and uncle Gary Houston took keeping a bedside vigil.
Bobbi Kristina’s family has already chosen her headstone and grave site near her mom in New Jersey. Because the graves around Whitney Houston are already occupied, source said Bobbi Kristina’s remains will likely be placed on top of Whitney’s coffin so mother and daughter can rest together in eternity.
Deathbed Photos and Fake Funeral Video
Bobby Brown’s family was banned from visiting the hospice facility after Bobbi Kristina’s deathbed photos were shopped to tabloids for $100,000.
Rumors that Bobbi Kristina was already dead started flying July 16, when a hearse was spotted outside the hospice center. Adding to the bizarre death rumors was a fake funeral video that purported to show Bobbi Kristina’s funeral service.
Bobbi Kristina’s boyfriend, Nick Gordon, was recently served with a $10 million lawsuit alleging he beat and robbed Bobbi Kristina during their relationship. Gordon is currently living in Florida with his mom.
Bobbi Kristina’s family claims Nick punched her in the throat and face, choked and threw her against the wall. Sources say Gordon knocked out Bobbi’s front tooth shortly before she was found face down in her bathtub in January. A criminal investigation is pending.
Before her death, Bobbi Kristina was determined to become a singer and release an album, said her cousin Jerod Brown. “I will never forget the last time I spoke to Bobbi,” said Jerod. “It was just three days before the incident and she was so excited. Bobbi wanted to release her first single, to get on with her own music projects.”
