When driving down I-95 in the early evening to go home, pull off to the Town of Surfside and eat at the St. Regis Bal Harbour at their new restaurant, the BH Burger Bar. The luxurious entrance and the glittering hallway will soothe anyone’s stresses from the consistent traffic. As you sit down in the sports bar themed surroundings, you can eat appetizers like the parmesan truffle tater tots, zucchini fries or Vidalia onion rings, drink craft beer from local breweries and watch any type of sports as you look out into the Atlantic Ocean. Not to forget that there are the most succulent cuts of burgers that will cure any person’s hard day frustrations–Wagyu beef, Grinded beef and veggie patties for the vegetarians. A person can create their own custom burger choosing their own bun (Brioche, sesame-seed, gluten free) or no bun at all and have two sheets of iceberg lettuce. Then pick your cheese (Gouda, Fioretta buttery mozarella, White cheddar or blue), toppings (pineapple, peppers, onions, bacon, free range egg, mushroom, gouda cheese sauce) and finally the sauce (House smoked ketchup, secret aioli, truffle aioli, spicy brown mustard). Literally, go for the gold and eat the Fois Gras Burger with gold fois gras flakes (yes! gold flakes) littered on the burger or get a sampler platter of all of the above to taste everything–the burgers are “where it’s at” when eating at the Burger Bar. But, there are gourmet hot dogs, chicket bratwurst, chicken wings, shakes and floats that can make a trip to the Burger Bar, not only for yourself but for family also.
Miami-Dade County is littered with a lot of chain sit-down restaurants but in Miami, Miami Beach and up the coast to Surfside, there is a burgeoning group of restaurants that is growing in popularity with delicious food, great views and service. Many of these restaurants are in four and five star rated hotels and they are open to the public, not just reserved to hotel guests. Together with going to local bars, nightclubs and concerts, eating at restaurants and socializing with friends over great food is also a piece of a well-developed sense of style and lends to a greater feel for enjoying a community (in this case, Miami-Dade and Surfside). Pulling over to these hotels gives the hungry professional or group of friends a temporary escape–they can feel as if they are the guest coming to this new area and their eyes see everything in a brand new light (you don’t have to go on a cruise or to another country to feel this way). The service is exemplary and all the smiles give them a refreshing boost that they could take home with them into the next work day. The rest of the nation takes notice of Miami’s burgeoning restaurant community and one can see it with the popularity of the South Beach Wine & Food festival and Miami Spice’s popularity with tourists and natives . Going to a restaurant in the Miami-Dade area is an investment in one’s community. The St. Regis has its doors open and the BH Burger Bar can become a lynch pin in the Surfside area for great memories. Try it once but the key is to return again and again with the same group of friends and each time, stay a bit more in the same area afterwards. The Bal Harbour shops are right across the street for window shopping or one can walk the poolside area, listening to laughing children enjoying their vacations or walk the boardwalk that runs along the beach.
