On Thursday, May 14, the world lost Blues legend B.B. King. Rolling Stone named him sixth out of the 100 greatest guitarists of all time and he was mourned through social media for his transformative mark on music. ‘Every day I sing the Blues,’ ‘Hummingbird,’ and ‘The Thrill is Gone,’ and ‘To Know You is to Love You’ are just a few of the library of hits in his over 60 year career. On Wednesday, June 3, Beat Brasserie will honor his extensive works and add a bit of a twist with performances by Brian Templeton, Monster Mike Welch, Jesse Williams, Bruce Bears, and many more at 8 p.m.
Beat Brasserie will turn up the heat on Wednesday, June 17 with Havana Nights, an evening dedicated to Cuban culture. Grammy award-winning artist Yaure Muniz will lead a sizzling band while guest enjoy Cuban-inspired entrees and cocktails at 8 p.m.
Honor the memorable work of singer, songwriter and musician Nina Simone with ‘The Soul of Nina Simone’ at Beat Brasserie on Wednesday, June 24 at 8 p.m. Most famous for her hypnotic style and jazz favorites ‘I Love You Porgy,’ ‘My Baby Just Cares for Me,’ ‘Feeling Good,’ and ‘A Single Woman,’ Nina Simone recorded over 40 albums over her 45 year career. Promising young singer Raquel Quinones will take the stage in her honor.
Wednesday, July 15 welcomes a tribute to one of the most popular bands of all time, ‘The Beatles’ at 8 p.m. Rachel Quinones will return to the stage along with the Funky AB’s, Bruce Ferrara, and Melissa Bolling will choose a special selection from their extensive collection such as ‘All You Need is Love,’ ‘Yesterday, ‘Blackbird,’ and ‘Can’t Buy Me Love.’
Singer-songwriter, model, and actress Jill Scott first introduced herself to the music scene through Jimmy Fallon’s show band, ‘The Roots.’ She rose to stardom winning Grammys, her musical collaborations, and her appearance in film and television. Liz Tobias will pay tribute to this multi-dimensional R&B artist on Thursday, July 23 for a late night show at 9:30 p.m.
