Some familiar faces gathered at the innovative Blushington Makeup and Beauty Lounge in West Hollywood on Tuesday night for not only good fun but also for a very good cause.
The founders of Blushington, Stephi Maron and Nicki Maron came up with the idea to open up the lounge based on their desire for women to have a place where they can embrace their inner beauty and celebrate their individuality.
With other locations in Southern California as well as in New York and Dallas, Blushington provides star treatment with affordable prices. This unique beauty experience offers women a chance to come in and get their makeup done by professional makeup artists with brands they use (and retail) like Stila, Becca, Julie Hewett and Kevyn Aucoin.
This creative and enjoyable atmosphere made this store the perfect spot to host a private event for Best Buddies. Best Buddies is a nonprofit organization founded in 1989 by Anthony Kennedy Shriver. Its purpose is in creating a movement that nourishes one-to-one friendships, as well as in cultivating employment and leadership development for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Those from Best Buddies were in attendance, as were celebrities such as Jason Lewis and Trina McGee from the television show, “Girl Meets World”. The awe-inspiring Katherine Schwarzenegger, daughter of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver, was also there and was as gracious as ever. With an empowering voice that encourages women to shine and take pride in being exactly who they are, the author of “Rock What You’ve Got: Secrets to Loving Your Inner and Outer Beauty from Someone Who’s Been There and Back”, was certainly rocking her own genuine demeanor as she mingled with the guests.
As a regular contributor to InStyle Magazine, Katherine’s belief in evolving fashion has kept this voice of a generation at the forefront of current affairs. Katherine told me that when it comes to style, Beyonce is someone whom she admires greatly. She said that no matter who you are, it’s important to not ever listen to negativity. If you listen to naysayers you won’t get to achieve anything. So dismiss negativity. And, as her parents taught her, always follow your dreams.
The late Eunice Kennedy Shriver, was the founder and driving force behind the Special Olympics and with Katherine Schwarzenegger now on the Board Of Directors for Best Buddies International, it continues to be an honor to witness the work this family does. Along with the incredible efforts made by Mark J. Wylie who is Vice President of Talent Relations for Best Buddies, the beautiful and inspiring environment that is Blushington became the perfect ambiance surrounding a night meant to celebrate being beautiful in all that you are.
