Today is undoubtedly a sad day in the ‘Bachelor Nation.’ Chris Soules and Whitney Bischoff have parted ways, Us Weekly confirmed in a report dated Thurs. May 28. Mike Fleiss (creator of the hit show), first announced the split earlier today on his Twitter. Their sad news comes just two months after viewers watched the Iowa farmer pop the question to the Chicago Fertility Nurse. Like previous bachelor couples, Soules, 33, and Bischoff, 29, had been the subject of breakup rumors since the final rose ceremony. Now those rumors have been laid to rest……as true.
“Whitney Bischoff and Chris Soules have mutually and amicably decided to end their engagement,” the pair told Us in a joint statement. “They part with nothing but respect and admiration for one another and will continue to be supportive friends. They wish to thank everyone who has supported them through this journey.”
In recent weeks, Soules continued to share photos with his then fiance on his social media. The couple headed to ‘Dancing With the Stars’ almost immediately after ‘The Bachelor’ finale, and appeared to have little relaxation time in their relationship. Nonetheless, Soules remained insistent they were in love and together. In the midst of media chatter, he posted a picture of Bischoff driving a tractor and deemed her as a “natural.” He also previously stated that fame and LA wasn’t real life and that they were ready to return to normalcy.
Now, six months into their engagement, they were finally able to spend real time together, but evidently something just wasn’t working. Bischoff has reportedly returned to Chicago while Soules is busy on the farm with planting season. Back in January, bachelorette Andi Dorfman and her final choice, Josh Murray announced their amicable split as well. Though the show’s success stories are few these days, fans remain hopeful that the future will include more “I do’s.” The stories of Sean Lowe and Catherine Giudici and Desiree Hartsock and Chris Siegfried are just a few happily ever afters that have occurred through this type of dating.
Meanwhile, Kaitlyn Bristowe, who was one of Soule’s final ladies, is now the one handing out the roses on ‘The Bachelorette.’ Though fan favorite Britt Nilsson (another top Soules’ pick) wasn’t chosen as this season’s bachelorette, she ended up fairing quite well. Contestant Brady Toops told Bristowe he was eliminating himself from the competition to see if he could date Britt. Last week, it was confirmed that Toops and Nilsson are happily dating. Perhaps they will be the next bachelor wedding?
