When a mom stopped at daycare to pick up her baby at the end of her work day, the doors were locked and there wasn’t a soul in sight. At first Sharonda Ross thought that her husband picked up their 10-month-old son Jordan, but upon arriving home her heart sank into her stomach when he said “no,” he didn’t.
According to HNGN News on July 31, the husband and wife rushed down to the daycare and now they could hear their baby crying inside. Taking matters into their own hands, the couple broke in to get to their baby. There’s probably not one parent on the face of this Earth that would blame them for breaking into this building!
The scooped up their son while filming the entire incident with their cell phone. This was done for their own protection because what they did could be considered as breaking and entering, so they needed proof that their child was indeed inside the center. Proof they got, as it is all on video.
According to Click 2 Houston, Joann’s Daycare in northeast Houston sent a letter home to parents and they owned up to this incident. In part the letter read, “You will probably see our story on the news and we are not running from this.” She explained that due to an uncomfortable diaper rash, the baby was bathed and then put in his crib while the staff person cleaned the room. Somehow she forgot the baby was there.
The daycare is extremely sorry for this incident and they are not taking disciplinary actions on the staff person, as it was an honest mistake. The main thing is that the baby is fine, said, Joanne Davis, the owner of the daycare. Of course there were no charges brought against the baby’s parents for breaking a window to gain entry to their son. News One reports that Ross is still upset over her son being left behind when the daycare closed.
Ross is a security worker and she said that her agreement with the daycare since she started using their services was that she could pick Jordan up after she got out of work at 6 p.m, as this is the time the daycare closes. This has never been a problem before. Ross said that while she is standing there hearing her son cry inside a locked building she was thinking this isn’t happening. I’m dreaming. I’m going to wake up and it’s going to be a dream. I’m just at a loss for words.”
