Although the Austin City Limits lineup will be announced Tuesday morning, headline rumors have been circulating for months. From hip hop to alternative music and everything in between ACL has been a mecca for new bands and a resurgence for the classic bands. Last years lineup included Eminem, Pearl Jam and Outkast.
This year is going to be no stranger to lineup surprises, with “Take Me to Church” singer Hozier announcing his ACL return, after having to cancel last years appearance due to illness.
Below are plausible and not so plausible choices for ACL 2015.
A possible headliner hip hop act for this year is Kendrick Lamar. With fourth studio album “To Pimp a Butterfly” out in 2014, the “i” singer is a definite possibility to headline ACL.
Lamar had previously been to ACL in 2013.
Marina and the Diamonds
With previous Austin experience earlier this year at South by Southwest, Marina will be wrangling her diamonds and most likely head to ACL this fall.
The “Froot” songstress has a new album this year with hits such as “I’m a Ruin” and “Happy.”
This would be the band’s first ACL appearance.
Florence and the Machine
The “Dog Days are Over” singer will likely return to ACL this fall after the release of her third studio album How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful this summer.
Having previously performed in 2012 at the festival, this would mark a triumphant return to the “St. Jude” singer and her band.
If you’re reading this it’s probably too late, because Drake has been announced as a hip hop headliner for ACL. The “Truffle Butter” singer headlined Coachella in Indio, Calif. earlier last month, and is poised to bring his talents to Texas later this fall.
Having never performed at ACL this would make a landmark debut for the OVO rapper.
This “Flawless” self described queen of rap is a stretch for headlining ACL but may happen as she is performing at the Circuit of the Americas later in the summer.
The “Super Bass” singer has never performed on the festival circuit, but could be looking to expand her options with her most recent album The Pinkprint.
Of Monsters and Men
No stranger to the festival circuit Of Monsters and Men would be a great addition, and most likely addition to the ACL 2015 lineup.
The “Dirty Paws” alternative rockers have made many stops in Austin, but none to the famous festival, and this would be great promotion for their latest album Beneath the Skin.
Most likely to make a reappearance from the festival circuit are famed AC/DC. The “Back in Black” rockers graced the Coachella stage this year, and most likely to reappear at ACL this fall.
With a tour ending just before the first weekend of ACL it’s plausible the group will rock out with festivalgoers.
