Aspen Comics is heading to Long Beach Comic Con this weekend, September 12 and 13. In addition to the personal meet and greet of the Aspen Booth there will be an official Aspen Comics panel taking place Saturday in room 102B/C at 11 am. The panel will allow fans to ask their most pressing questions of Aspen creators from publishers and co-owners Frank Mastromauro and Peter Steigerwald. Editor-in-chief Vince Hernandez, writers Scott Lobdell, David Wohl, and Mark Roslan will be on hand to answer all those questions about what’s next for Aspen’s favorite characters.
Aspen panels often include many incidents of the creators dropping the curtain back on what life is like working for one of comics’ busiest publishers. It’s all fun and games especially when Lobdell gets on a roll and no one will get a word in edgewise. There will be updates and great information on the status of all the characters from Aspen Mathews’ next adventures in “Fathom” to when we’ll see the continuation of “The Zoo Hunters,” to the return of the “Executive Assistant: Assassins.”
The panel will also give a look inside the continuing Big Dog Ink imprint “Critter” as well as a new look into Aspen’s next big series “Oniba: Swords of the Demon.”
Hernandez will also host a “How to Edit Comics” panel at 12:30 in room 101A. The Aspen Editor-In-Chief will be joined by renowned editors Bob Schreck, Len Wein, and Janelle Asselin to discuss what an editor is looking for in making a comic. Writers and artists will want to be on hand for this comprehensive discussion.
Also look into getting your portfolio reviewed by Hernandez. Get great insight in what you need to take your artwork to the next level and get that break into the industry. Times fill up fast so be sure to check in with the convention to find out time of this important opportunity.
