In Cary, North Carolina, possibly the most hated woman on social media who has been sought for days for allegedly taping her chocolate Labrador retriever’s mouth shut with duct tape, has been arrested, reports Abc.11.com.
Katherine F. Lemansky, 45, whose Facebook page identified her as Katie Brown from South Daytona, Florida, faces one count of a Class 1 animal cruelty misdemeanor after allegedly admitting the incident happened in Cary. If found guilty of the charge, Lemansky faces up to 150 days in jail. A court date has been scheduled for December 14.
According to Cary Police Captain Randall Rhyme, “taping the dog’s muzzle shut was a terrible decision on Mrs. Lemansky’s part and charging her with animal cruelty under North Carolina law was the right thing to do.” The dog, as well as any of the other dogs owned by Lemansky, have since been examined by Animal Control and were all deemed healthy, current on all vaccinations, spayed and micro chipped. Authorities examining the dog stated there were no signs of the dog having been muzzled – including no hair loss around the dog’s face.
The disturbing photo of the dog’s mouth duct taped with the comment below the picture stating: “This is what happens when you don’t shut up!” appeared on Lemansky’s Facebook page Friday morning. The National Pet Rescue Examiner was the first media source to expose the photo as advocates notified authorities – deeply concerned for the dog’s safety and welfare. Within minutes, a subsequent comment appeared above the photo from Lemansky, assuring animal advocates the duct tape had been removed from the dog’s muzzle with the following comment: “Don’t panic everyone it was only for a minute, but hasn’t barked since… POINT MADE!!!” The photo has been shared more than 100,000 times on social media; actually crashing the police department’s server with the amount of emails and subsequent complaints.
Authorities are asking if anyone has any further information pertaining to this case, they notify the Town of Cary Police Department at (919).469.4012 or Cary Crime Stoppers at (919).480.4636. Read the prior story by clicking here.
