Having a “Return to Amish” star arrested this weekend for cursing out cops brings new meaning to the phrase, “Breaking Amish.” Jeremiah Raber, one of the stars on the hit TLC show, has found himself in a bind after being placed under arrest in the middle of a routine traffic stop. According to Enstarz News this Monday, May 25, 2015, Raber was drunk and began swearing—using antagonistic language as well as inappropriate gestures—toward several police officers after the former had let him go.
Talk about a difficult week for the TLC network. While executives are still dealing with heated backlash following the “19 Kids and Counting” Duggar scandal, they are now faced with a “Return to Amish” cast figure stepping into some serious trouble. It was confirmed by celebrity news sources that Raber was arrested late on Saturday morning by cops after demonstrating some less than ideal behavior on the street. After pulling the vehicle over—in which Jeremiah Raber was a passenger—police officers seemingly let him return home.
However, following the “Amish” star cursing them out from the window, the Pennsylvania state troopers decided to follow their car. Once Raber arrived at a local home, officers apparently heard Raber shouting at the top of his lungs at the driver. The driver reportedly was taking the very drunk young man back home from the bar. Raber was subsequently arrested and booked for both disorderly conduct as well as public drunkenness.
Avid fans of “Breaking Amish” and “Return to Amish” likely know that this isn’t the first arrest to hit a cast member of the highly successful TLC series. Andrew Schmucker, another cast member, also got into some trouble with the law, finding himself in quite a bind last fall for major drug charges. Fortunately, Raber’s inapt actions didn’t land him behind bars for long, but the controversial situation may not help with the season 2 premiere of the show looming so close.
In a related article, TMZ News reveals this weekend that the new “Amish” show premiere is only week away. It also comes at a very inopportune time for the TLC cable channel on the whole, which is still trying to come to grips with Josh Duggar’s child molestation scandal on “19 Kids and Counting.” As previously reported on the Examiner, the now 27-year-old father of three is accused of having inappropriately touched a number of girls back when he was a young teenager (age 14). Since his admission, “19 Kids and Counting” has been pulled from the air pending an investigation. Some of the allegations even say that his sisters were a few of his victims. Other viewers of the series likely still remember the scandal surrounding the “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo” family.
It has been confirmed that the “Breaking Amish” star arrested this week has since been released. For Jeremiah Raber’s sake and the rest of the TLC cast, production, and executive team, it is hopeful that this third headache will mark the end of any small screen drama for the network.
