It’s time for another episode of “America’s Next Top Model.” This week we have the first part of the finale. With only four models left, the models will have to give a presentation to Tyra and the judges on why they should be “America’s Next Top Model.” The top guy and the top girl will advance to walk the final runway. Ok, got that out of the way, so let’s get on with the recap.
The models arrive back at the house after last week’s panel. Mamé had best picture, so she will get the Tyra Suite this week. She goes to the suite to listen to her #TyTyTip from Tyra on the video screen. Tyra tells her that last week Mamé’s mother really rocked it in the photo shoot. Tyra says that Mamé needs to let it go in her photo shoot to take it to the next level.
In the Tyra Suite, Mamé is hanging out with Mikey, and she tells him she’s worried that Devin is going to tell Justin about what happened in the cabin between her and Mikey. She is worried that Justin would hate her if he found out.
The next day the models meet Yu Tsai at a high school swimming pool. He tells them that today they’ll be shooting the fashion spread that will go in Nylon Magazine. Of course, only the winner’s spread will run in the magazine. He also says that there will be no more scoring for the rest of the competition. The winner will be chosen based on their photos and their presentation.
Nylon’s J. Errico is back, and the photographer will actually NOT be Erik Asla or Massimo, but Mark Hunter, aka Cobrasnake. Mark was a photographer on Top Model back in Cycle 19.
Mark explains the theme of the photo shoot will be that they broke into the school, and they’ll be taking photos in various poses by the pool. Mikey says this is right up his alley as he used to break into the school when he was younger. Oh brother.
First the guys will shoot. Mikey has some problems at first, and Yu tells him not to make funny faces. Apparently, when Mikey tries to model, it’s bad, and when he just acts normal he gets great shots.
Nyle also had a bit of a problem at first. Because he’s deaf, he relies a lot on his interpreter to tell him what the photographer is saying, and so he’s not looking at the photographer. Mark tells him to build a relationship with him and not rely on the interpreter. When Nyle did that the photos were great.
When it’s time for Lacey and Mamé to shoot, Lacey does pretty well, but she gets a bit over the top, and is too sexy, which is something she’s been told about before.
Mamé does her shoot and in the middle of it, Lacey picks up Yu Tsai’s dog and starts posing with it, and Cobrasnake starts shooting her instead.
The next day, the bus brings the models out in the desert where again, they meet Yu Tsai. He welcomes them to the Four Aces Motel. He says that the shoot today will be for Zappos Couture. Again, only the winner’s photos will be used in the campaign.
Melissa Costa, head of brand marketing for Zappos Couture is also there. She welcomes everyone to the shoot and says she’s looking forward to seeing their photos. Yu says they’ll be posing in various locations at the Motel. With that it’s off to hair and makeup, where they meet Kevin Bailey, who is the Editorial Strategist of Zappos Couture. Kevin tells the model they’re looking for chic and modern photos.
Melissa also congratulates Mamé on best photo the previous week, and she gives her a gift certificate to use on the Zappos Couture website.
Today’s photographer is Erik Asla. Surprise, surprise!
Both Lacey and Mamé do well during the shoots, and Melissa says she doesn’t know which one she likes better. Yu likes Mamé better.
Nyle kills it during his shoot, but Mikey has problems at first as he’s over posing again. Yu brings Melissa in the room and tells Mikey to use her for inspiration, and it starts clicking for him. Well, that’s great and all, but I don’t think Melissa is going to go along with him on all his photo shoots just so he has some inspiration.
The next day the models get to work on their props to go with their presentations. Mamé is still going with the supermodel humanitarian theme that she tried to sell a few weeks ago, and failed miserably with.
Nyle is still going with helping change the world, and Lacey is doing the whole book thing. She says she has a blog and she is going to open up a fitness class. Mikey talks about his Instagram.
It’s time for Tyra Mail!
“Conduct yourselves carefully… This is your final chance to werk your way to the top. Fierce & Love, Ty Ty”
The next day the bus takes the models to the L.A. Disney Concert Hall where they find the eliminated models, all except for whatever reason Bello. As Mamé scans their faces, she finds Justin, and he does not look happy.
Kelly Cutrone, Miss J and Yu Tsai are there too, and Kelly says that the final runway will be held here, and they’ve created a curved runway to mirror the curved lines of the building. The models will be wearing designs from Rocky Gathercole.
The models head to hair and makeup and we see that Justin is also not making eye contact with Mikey. There’s a strong chance that he’s already heard about Mikey and Mamé. Ashley, who was also involved with Mikey prior to her elimination says that when she first saw him, she wanted to shoot him, but she really didn’t expect much from him, so she’s fine with it.
Finally, Justin talks with Mamé, congratulating her on being in the final 4. You can tell he’s really hurt, and Mamé tries to say that she only cuddled with Mikey. When she talks with Devin, he says that he was cornered and asked what happened. He responded that it wasn’t his place to say, but…then he did say. Typical Devin.
Miss J gathers everyone around and introduces Cycle 21 winner, Keith Carlos. Keith addresses the models, saying he knows exactly how they are feeling. He tells them to take everything they’ve learned and leave it all on the runway.
Miss J gives some runway tips to the models regarding the runway being curved, and then Yu Tsai comes in with some moral support for the final four. Their moms are back again. Wow!
Next, Tyra comes in along with Miss J and Kelly Cutrone. She says that it’s time to make the final cut. They’ll review their photos and watch their presentations and then we’ll find out which two will walk in the final runway.
But, no… it can’t be. There are only two minutes remaining. There’s no way she can get all that in in that short of time. Yep, you guessed it. To be continued. We’ll have to wait 2 more weeks to find out that answer. Darn you Tyra!
