The citizens of the United Stares are speaking out in favor of legalized marijuana. A concerted effort is taking place across the land in favor of either a legalized recreational form of marijuana or medical marijuana including finally Charlotte’s Web a derivative of marijuana with no THC that cuts seizures in epileptic children down to nothing.
In Florida the state legislature voted to legalize Charlotte’s Web but it has yet made it to distribution. Medical marijuana was on the ballot in the last election but failed to pass by 2% in Florida. Most believe that this time around it will pass with flying colors. Recreational marijuana will also be on the ballot for the 2016 election so we shall see if it passes. The point is that the push in Florida for legalized marijuana has become a hot topic and we are not alone. Each state has in recent elections had some sort of vote on legalized marijuana.
The state that everyone is looking at is Colorado and the financial windfall that it has received since it legalized marijuana. Colorado has recreational as well as medical marijuana and in the first year of recreational sales the state made some 63 million in tax revenue. The distributors brought in some 713 million dollars and crime is down since 2014.
If you look at social media there are thousands of web pages that are promoting the legalization of marijuana. This is not a growing fad this is serious business. Let’s look just at medical marijuana for a minute. It helps with cancer patients especially those taking chemotherapy. It helps with glaucoma, AIDS, PTSD, and several other ailments. It usually does a better job than any pill. So, if marijuana is so good at all that it can do then why is it not legal in most states? The simply answer is that when most people think of marijuana they think of the old days and how it used to be called the “evil weed”. For some people, they still believe it’s the gateway step to harder drugs. The gateway stigma was debunked by the medical profession when it said alcohol is a potentially more dangerous gateway drug.
The time has come for all our politicians to take the advice of their constituents and legalize marijuana. Simply put the majority of the citizens of these United States are in favor of a form of legalized marijuana and if they can’t get their government to see the truth well then it’s time to elect a new government.
