‘Alaskan Bush People’ Season 2 Finale had pirates, red lips and sinking ships

by atom bash

“The Alaskan Bush People” aired the Season 2 Finale on Discovery Channel on Friday night. Most of the hour-long program involved the Integrity and the family’s new shipping business. The 70-year-boat had repeated setbacks, including a huge, gaping hole that they quickly patched. Right before leaving, they lost total steering capability due to an apparent leak in the hydraulic line. Yet, the unsinkable Billy Brown put his entire family aboard this Titanic and headed off on what could easily have been the “Poseidon Adventure.”

The trip was a success; the cargo was dispatched on time, even the goats. It was a colorful crew on board the old vessel; you may have thought you had tuned into an old pirate movie. Matt was wearing an eye patch because the tooth he wears around his neck stuck him in the eye. (Even Billy said that would only happen to Matt.)A quick visit to the doctor told him it was a slight laceration. One could imagine the patch was Matt’s idea because he seemed to enjoy wearing it.

Rain completed the old pirate movie scene with her “Old Hollywood” bright red lipstick! Who in the world thought that this look was appropriate for a sweet 12-year-old child? It was a sweet scene, however, when Billy taught her to drive the boat and talked about making memories. That was very real and touching.

The end of the show may or may not have been real. (Most online commentators have gone with NOT.) The Browns returned to their home to see that bears had savagely destroyed much of Browntown . When the season closed, they had not yet gone inside the house, but one of the boys made the remark that it was a good thing that they had their house. So, the assumption is that the bear didn’t make it inside. (Viewers were thrilled that the Browns had finally put a door on the house.) Most viewers have wondered from the start how a cheap tent would protect the family from bears after they talked about the high number of bears per square mile. One thing that was not immediately noticeable is whether Matt’s tire house survived the bear visit.

There is a show coming on next week in the regular Friday 9 p.m. timeslot that promises some lost footage that we have not seen. Perhaps the network executives would consider a new idea for an additional post-season show: a dream makeover show with Ami, Bird and Rain. Just imagine, hair color, cut, teeth and make-up would turn Ami into a different woman. She is not that old, and she has beautiful features. It seems everyone would like to see Snowbird have a beautiful smile for such a pretty, sweet girl. This would be a ratings explosion. What do you think?
