Just as the new mega-quake movie is about to premiere, film studio/distributor The Asylum brings audiences their latest disaster mockbuster: “San Andreas Quake.”
Enter actor Jason Woods, Hollywood’s newest young action star, who lands smack dab in the middle of the quake ridden city, up against all odds and fighting to rescue the girl he loves.
Considering Jason is young, good looking and did a lot of his own stunt work for the film — I can hear the girls swooning now!
And, if that isn’t enough, Jason will also be appearing in the Christian-drama film “Keep the Faith,” which comes from director Choice Skinner and is scheduled to premiere later this year.
I recently interviewed Jason Woods about “San Andreas Quake” and more.
Give us an overview of your role in the new action-thriller “San Andreas Quake.”
JASON: Nick, my character, is forced to team-up with his professor/girlfriend’s step-mom as they race through tremors and debris to rescue her. He is the unintentional action hero.
Have you ever been through an earthquake?
JASON: Growing up in California I’ve been through a lot of them… most of which I didn’t even feel. I was just a toddler when the Northridge quake hit and I slept through it till my mom yanked me out of bed.
Did you do your own stunts in the film or was it too dangerous?
JASON: I did all of my own stunts except for stunt driving. It was a rush. I have some scars as mementos and even more respect for the actual stuntmen and women and what they put themselves through to make actors look good.
Any fun or scary stories from the set you can share with us?
JASON: There are a lot of both. It was definitely funny imagining being attacked by a hippo. And it was scary working in the underground tunnels having to dodge all the pipes and actual debris. The fog machine made it really hard to see and breathe.
What do you think audiences will take away from the film?
JASON: Well, we definitely don’t want the “Big One” to happen EVER. Beyond that, hopefully that we’re always better as a team than as adversaries.
You’ll be appearing in another film “Keep the Faith” soon; what can you tell us about it?
JASON: “Keep the Faith” shows how a person, even from a violent background, can find redemption.
Anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
JASON: Watch for me. I’m not going away.
Thanks, Jason — we’ll definitely be keeping tabs on you!
