With Thanksgiving on the horizon, where will you pick up your sweet treats? Instead of slaving away in the kitchen with the oven on high-heat, a few local eateries and bakeries have created some festive treats just for you. From traditional pumpkin pie, to fall-inspired delights, here are five San Diego spots to pick up your Thanksgiving dessert.
At Bake Sale Bakery in downtown, guests can learn how to make their own holiday pies on Wednesday, November 18. Bakers will learn baking basics, with Chef Reinhart guiding students to make holiday staples like pecan, sweet potato, and cream pie. Located in the Gaslamp Quarter, Le Parfait Paris will offer French-inspired Thanksgiving pies for pick-up. Their Thanksgiving tart is made with a sugar crust, topped with a layer of pumpkin spice biscuit, covered in a pumpkin spice ganache and finished with a mascarpone whip cream and French chocolate candy. The tarts are available in a single size at $6.50, small size of 6.5” for $35 and a large size of 11.5” for $60. Giuseppe Restaurants & Fine Catering will be cooking up a variety of sweets in their La Jolla kitchen this year. Notable dessert eatery, Extraordinary Desserts, has a number of seasonal desserts this year. Master Pastry Chef Karen Krasne has created the following this season; The Flourless Aloha Pumpkin Pie, is a pumpkin pie baked on top of a roasted coconut pecan crust, topped with swirls of marshmallow coconut milk whipped cream and is available for $40. The Caramelized Apple Croissant Bread Pudding consists of buttery croissants soaked in vanilla bean creme brûlée custard and layered with cartelized apples for $45 and Pumpkin Apple Pecan Scones, which are made with toasted pecans and brown sugar, finished with a maple glaze and a touch of gold. For the Vegans out there, not to worry, Café Gratitude in Little Italy has you covered. They are offering Chef Dreux Ellis’ raw and vegan pumpkin, pecan, and chocolate coconut cream pies for pick-up.
