The 49ers vs. Texans 2015 live stream and televised preseason game highlights the Saturday schedule of Week 1. There’s just a total of three matchups on the day, and this one will feature two teams that could surprise some fans this season. Both squads currently rank near the bottom tier of potential Super Bowl champs, but feature top quality personnel capable of making a postseason run. The 49ers vs. Texans live stream and TV coverage arrives via multiple sources on Saturday night.
According to a Niners Nation report from Aug. 14, there were a total of 10 San Francisco players who didn’t travel with the team to Houston for their first preseason game. They include wide receivers Dres Anderson and Bruce Ellington, which could open the door for DeAndrew White to show he belongs in a bigger role with the team. Also out is linebacker Nick Bellore, defensive back Jimmie Ward, plus running backs Kendall Hunter and Reggie Bush. These absences will provide opportunities for backups to potentially snag a spot for the upcoming season. The Niners were 8-8 last season, finishing third in the NFC West.
For the Houston Texans, despite a winning record in the 2014-15 season at 9-7 they failed to qualify for the playoffs. They continue to feature one of the top players in the game today in defensive end J.J. Watt, a game changer who finished as runner-up in the MVP voting last season and snagged his second AFC Defensive Player of the Year award. The quarterback role will be split up tonight as in most preseason games, with Brian Hoyer and Ryan Mallett expecting equal time on the field and Tom Savage also getting a few snaps.
Both the 49ers and Texans carry an impressive array of personnel and talent, but neither team is among the top contenders for the Super Bowl in 2016, at least in the mind of odds makers. Houston is listed at 50 to 1 odds to win it all, with the 49ers just below at 65 to 1. For tonight’s matchup, the spread favors the home team by three points with a point total set at 35-1/2 for the complete game.
Saturday night’s 49er’s vs. Texans game has a scheduled start time of 8 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. The game will be shown live on TV in local regions on channels such as CBS/KPIX 5 for San Francisco fans or ABC 13 KTRK in the Houston area.
