The 2K Classic 2015 Duke vs. VCU live streaming and televised matchup takes place on Friday night as one half of last year’s National Championship will be on the court, just hours after the team they beat for the title plays. Madison Square Garden will be the host site as the Blue Devils look to move to 3-1 on their season, after an early loss to No. 2 Kentucky this past week. The VCU Rams have started off 2-0 so far, but now get a huge test at MSG against one of the top-ranked teams in all of the country. The college basketball live online and TV coverage arrives thanks to ESPN on Friday night.
The Richmond Times-Dispatch reported on Nov. 19 that VCU will try to keep an “under control” mindset when it comes to playing an anticipated matchup against Duke tonight. While the Rams feature senior guard Melvin Johnson who has played against the Blue Devils before, he is going to avoid tonight’s potential distractions. Johnson is quoted as saying “I’m not really trying to pay attention to what the four letters on their jersey say. I’m just mainly focused on … day by day helping these guys.” Johnson is averaging 18.5 points a game and has led the Rams to a 2-0 start.
As for Duke, Coach K’s latest bunch will look to try to get another quality win as the reigning champions. The Blue Devils will look for more scoring from their star players, including Grayson Allen, who had a dismal outing against No. 2 Kentucky in his team’s 74-63 loss this past week. Through three games so far he leads all scorers with 20 points a game, but right now 6-9 senior forward Amile Jefferson is averaging a double-double with just over 15 points and 12 boards per game. Matt Jones and Brandon Ingram also have been sharing the scoring load for a talented Duke team capable of another run in March.
The line first opened at nine points in favor of the Blue Devils, and it’s held around that number, with some books moving up another half or full point on the spread. The over/under points total is hovering around 155 for the complete game. For moneyline bettors, Duke is currently priced at -550 as the favorites, while the Rams are +425 underdogs. Duke is also listed second on the future odds list to win the National Championship at 17 to 2, trailing Kentucky and Maryland, both of whom have 8 to 1 odds to win it all.
Friday’s 2K Classic game featuring Duke vs. VCU has a scheduled start time of approximately 7:30 p.m. Eastern Time. Live television coverage will be available through ESPN2, after the conclusion of the previous game between Wisconsin and Georgetown.
