The 2015 Wimbledon Grand Slam tennis tournament is taking place from June 29 to July 12, 2015, on the grass courts at the All England Club in London, England. Here is a list of the prize money up for grabs for the men and women singles tennis players at Wimbledon in 2015.
Wimbledon pays the men and women singles players the same amounts of money. The money listed below is not cumulative, players only earn the amounts shown for the last round they advance to.
All money shown below has been converted from British pounds to American dollars at the current exchange rate of 1.58. In terms of British pounds, the prize money has been raised by an average of 8% over last year for singles players but due to the decline in the British pound vs the dollar the prize money is virtually identical to what it was last year in dollars as noted below.
2015 Wimbledon tennis prize money up for grabs
- Winners – $2.96 million
The men and women singles winners at Wimbledon in 2015 will each earn a cool $2.96 million. In British pounds that’s up 7% over last year but in American dollars it is just about the same amount Novak Djokovic and Petra Kvitova earned ($2.994 million) when they won Wimbledon last year.
- Runners-up – $1.48 million
The men and women runners-up in singles play at Wimbledon will each earn a not too shabby $1.48 million. Up 7% in pounds but just about the same amount of money ($1.497 million) in dollars that Roger Federer and Eugenie Bouchard earned as runners-up in 2014.
- Semifinalists – $741,037
Players losing in the semifinals will each earn $741,037 in 2015. Down slightly from the $748,392 that semifinal losers earned last year at Wimbledon.
- Quarter-finalists – $379,979
Players reaching the quarterfinals at Wimbledon in 2015 will each earn $379,979. Down slightly in dollars from the $384,401 that quarterfinal losers earned last year.
- Fourth round – $200,238
Making the fourth round is worth $200,238 for players who do not advance beyond. That is up slightly over the $199,004 that fourth round losers earned in 2014. In British pounds the fourth round prize money was raised 9% from last year.
- Third round – $121,404
Third round losers will each earn $121,404 in singles play at Wimbledon in 2015. Virtually identical to the $120,763 that third round losers earned last year in American dollars.
- Second round – $74,104
Making it to the second round is worth $74,104 for singles players at Wimbledon this year. Virtually identical to the $73,138 that second round losers earned last year.
- First round – $45,724
Just for playing in the first round singles players will earn $45,724 if they do not advance. That’s virtually identical to the $45,924 that first round losers earned last year in 2014.
