It was a tragic and heartbreaking parting of the ways when Scooby, a 14-year-old Chow Chow was forcibly pulled out of the arms of his elderly owner who was going to an assisted living facility. And even though Scooby and his human had been together for nearly a dog’s lifetime, no family member ever considered Scooby’s feelings – after all he is “just a dog.”
Scooby, however is not “just a dog,” and advocates hope to find a safe and loving environment for the 39-pound pooch, whose only medical notes indicate he has cataracts. A Facebook page for this dog can be found here. Click here for Scooby’s PetHarbor listing. SCOOBY – ID#A0949837 “My name is Scooby and I am a neutered male, black and gold Chow Chow mix. The shelter thinks I am about 14 years old. I weigh approximately 39 pounds. I have been at the shelter since Oct 04, 2015. For more information about this animal, call North Central Animal Care and Control Center at (888) 452-7381″
Even more heartbreaking is the report from a volunteer about Scooby’s farewell:” Kimberly Allen Chapin: per call just now, Scooby is available for adoption right now..He was OS…Only medically is cataract eyes, he is a senior but overall, Scooby is in good condition…Owner surrendered, because he had to move into an assisted living that morning of surrendering Scooby, I was told the owner had a hard time saying good bye to Scooby; he was very much loved.” Please share Scooby’s plight with friends, family and social media contacts. Help this loving senior dog realize his life does matter and a new home awaits him filled with love and care for as long as he still has to live.
Please note that another dog was turned in along with Scooby and the dogs have been described to be closely bonded. Molly is a five-year- old, spayed female Miniature Poodle. She is healthy, according to the medical staff. It would be wonderful for the dogs to be placed together but understand if they end up finding separate homes.
