The Paso Pinot Producers is hosting the 12th Annual Paso Pinot & Paella Festival on Sunday June 7, 2015 2-5 p.m. in the beautiful Templeton Community Park. Join Paso Robles Pinot Producers and some of the Central Coast’s Best Chefs for an afternoon of great wine, exceptional food and unmatched fun to support youth arts in San Luis Obispo County. And enjoy live Spanish-beat music by returning fan-favorites, Incendio.
Paso Robles local Pinot Noir has a storied history, starting from when it was originally planted in the early 1960’s by Dr. Stan Hoffman of Hoffman Mountain Ranch to the present day count of 20 plus Pinot Noir Producers. Windward Vineyard, who has been putting on this charitable event since 2003, will be pouring their newest release, the 2013 vintage.
The annual Paso Pinot & Paella Festival is fully supported as participating wineries donate their wine, and the chefs donate their time and ingredients for this event. Ticket sales have contributed over $350,000 to programs supporting youth arts in San Luis Obispo County, such the Paso Robles Youth Arts Foundation.
With your ticket you will receive a souvenir Burgundy-style fine wine glass, endless tastes of 20 Paso Pinot Noirs paired with a wide variety of paellas, live music by Incendio, and dancing. The festivities begin at 2 pm and take place in the Templeton Park under the shade of giant oak trees. Blankets & lawn chairs welcome.
Wine lovers have known for years that Paso Robles produces some great wines. But most do not realized that Paso also produces some premium Pinot Noir in addition to the Cabs, Rhones, Merlot, Syrah, Chardonnay and Zins that they are used to tasting in Paso. But Paso is home to many diverse microclimates with the heat necessary to develop sugar and flavors during the day and then as the Pacific breeze flows over the Templeton Gap in the evening, the night cool down to provide the rest necessary for substantial finesse and balance. In addition the calcareous soil of Paso Westside reminds the grapevine of its home in Burgundy.
