We’ve complied a very specific list of 10 ways, some surprising, that anyone can integrate into their daily routine to live a longer, healthier life. Some of these might be easier than others to accomplish, heck, you might already be doing a number of them, but they all have been proven to play a role in keeping the mind and body healthy and potentially expanding the lifespan.
Think positively; be optimistic. Happy people, those who are thankful and full of gratitude each day, live a longer healthier life. Run 5 minutes per day. Yes, this is hard to believe but running even 5-minutes a day, at any pace, can drastically reduce the risk of death from a heart attack, but remember, consistently is key, exercise often.
Volunteer. Who would have thought that giving your time to others could increase your life span? But it’s true. Volunteers experience lower levels of depression and feel an increased sense of wellbeing.
Eat nuts. Consuming a palm full of nuts each day is one of the healthiest things you can do for your body and will undoubtedly enable you to live a longer life. Learn more about this here.
No more soda. Eliminating soft drinks from your life will increase your lifespan in itself. Soda contains mostly sugar that can cause weight gain, diabetes and depression.
Drink a little wine everyday. Keeping the word “little” in mind is important when talking about drinking alcohol. But studies have shown that drinking 20 grams of wine per day results in a longer life expectancy.
Get quality sleep. Lack of sleep has been proven to have a direct negative affect on your health. Getting 7-8 hours per night is essential, but if you’re having difficulty making that happen, be sure the hours you are getting are quality. Learn more about sleep deprivation and your health here.
Drink coffee each morning. Studies have shown profound health benefits from drinking a cup of Joe each morning including less risk of diabetes and cardiovascular disease.
Live with purpose. Whether it’s giving to others like we mentioned above or waking up each morning to make a difference in your own life, work at seeing the good and doing your best. When you live your life this way you tend to make healthier choices overall.
