Carowinds has made the decision to close down their famous Thunder Road coaster. On Sunday, ABC News shared that this roller coaster will actually be torn down due to a new plan to renovate the park. This park is located in North Carolina and the coaster has been around for years. Most people remember riding it as a child and they have taken their own kids back to ride it again. It is something that the park is actually known for having there. It is a wooden coaster.
This roller coaster actually lasts about two minutes and is in both North Carolina and South Carolina, which is a pretty cool concept. It was built in 1976 and has been there ever since. People have loved the chance to ride it and be in both states, but that is going away soon as it is closing down.
The park Carowinds has decided to do a huge $50 million renovation to the park. Part of what they are going to be doing is tearing down this ride. They haven’t said the exact reason, but it will be gone soon. Over the next couple of months they have big plans to do events to celebrate the Thunder Road coaster. If you want to ride it, then this is your last chance to head out to Carowinds and get on this ride. You won’t regret doing it before they tear it down and you don’t have a chance anymore. This piece of history will be gone forever in just a few short months.
