Donald Trump heard his words echo back at him as NBC has severed ties with the Republican Presidential hopeful over his comments about Mexican immigrants. This means Trump’s Miss USA and Miss Universe beauty pageants are dropped from the network and the head honchos at NBC indicated “Celebrity Apprentice” will no longer be hosted by Donald Trump, according to MSN News on June 29.
Today Trump blasts NBC promising to sue the network and reminds them how they backed “Lying Brian Williams,” according to Deadline News via MSN. He is livid that NBC decided to stand behind Williams, but not him. Trump said that NBC was not happy when he decided to run for President because he told them he couldn’t do the “Apprentice.”
In a statement released from Trump’s office Monday he said, “Their contract violating closure of Miss Universe/Miss USA will be determined in court.” He also included, “Furthermore, they will stand behind lying Brian Williams, but won’t stand behind people that tell it like it is, as unpleasant as that may be.”
“Due to recent derogatory statements by Donald Trump regarding immigrants, NBC Universal is ending its relationship with Mr. Trump,” NBC said in a statement. With Trump’s “Celebrity Apprentice” being one of the network’s biggest hits this might not fare well for NBC. This show wouldn’t be the same without Donald Trump and his shoot-from-the-hip attitude. But, from what Trump is saying they already knew that he wouldn’t be on the show while campaigning, putting his run for the White House before his show.
It appears that Trump told NBC that he couldn’t continue on with “Celebrity Apprentice” while taking on this new gigantic endeavor of running for the President of this nation. Trump said in this statement, “Long ago I told NBC that I would not being doing ‘The Apprentice’ because I am running for President in order to Make our Country Great Again.” You can read his entire statement at the end of this article.
Even the New York Times echoed Trumps own words “You’re Fired” in their article title today about NBC severing the ties with the man who’s made that term his catch phrase. Who could they possibly get to replace Trump to say “You’re Fired” and get the same reaction from the celebrities and audience? NBC cites the reason for this split is what was said in his recent speech where Trump was “describing Mexican immigrants as rapists and drug runners,” reports MSN. While NBC severing their ties with Trump comes as a surprise to fans of his show, this isn’t the first network to cut their affiliation with the real estate mogul.
Not too long after Trump made his statement about Mexicans, Univision revealed they would not carry the Miss USA pageant because of the comments he made about Mexicans. A petition on Change.org gathered 200,000 signatures that urged NBC to severe their ties with Trump.
That petition now has a victory wreath with the words, “Victory” posted across the top. This did put pressure on the network, but again, Trump’s show is a money maker over at NBC, so how this plays out should be interesting. Will they really go on with this show without Trump?
Here is his full statement:
“As of today, Donald J. Trump is no longer affiliated with NBC. Mr. Trump stands by his statements on illegal immigration, which are accurate. NBC is weak, and like everybody else is trying to be politically correct— that is why our country is in serious trouble.
Mr. Trump says, “We must have strong borders and not let illegal immigrants enter the United States. As has been stated continuously in the press, people are pouring across our borders unabated. Public reports routinely state great amounts of crime are being committed by illegal immigrants. This must be stopped and it must be stopped now. Long ago I told NBC that I would not being doing The Apprentice because I am running for President in order to Make our Country Great Again.”
Mr. Trump continued, “If NBC is so weak and so foolish to not understand the serious illegal immigration problem in the United States, coupled with the horrendous and unfair trade deals we are making with Mexico, then their contract violating closure of Miss Universe/Miss USA will be determined in court. Furthermore, they will stand behind lying Brian Williams, but won’t stand behind people that tell it like it is, as unpleasant as that may be.”
