The wait is over. National Tequila Day – July 24 is right around the corner, and while we need no particular reason to celebrate this versatile spirit, it would be criminal to not recognize how Tequila has shaped our drinking culture with its lack of boundaries or limitations.
While your friends argue over what to order: a flavored vodka shot, Bushmills, or even Fireball – tequila is the decision everyone will get behind.
Drinking tequila has long been the Mexican remedy for aches and pains, and studies have suggested that tequila can be an effective pain reliever. Not only does it help to dilate the blood vessels it can help you deal with mild headaches as well. When it comes to emotional stress…tequila is there for you too.
Hornitos Spiced Honey, a newer spirit to the tequila market is celebrating its first National Tequila Day! Spiced Honey is made from a combination of 100% agave Hornitos Plata Tequila with honey and a special spice blend. Hornitos Spiced Honey is perfect for mixing cocktails, sipping as a shot or for sipping neat — truly appreciating the flavor.
- 2 Parts Hornitos® Spiced Honey
- ½ Part Lime Juice
- 2 Parts Grapefruit Juice
- Top with Tonic
Combine all ingredients except tonic in a shaker with ice, shake vigorously, strain over fresh ice and top with tonic.
For a different type of tequila experience, one with a more polished flavor, I recommend Hornitos Black Barrel; this variety is triple aged to create a complex tequila with whiskey characteristics.
Hornitos Black Barrel makes any tequila cocktail better, but the real enjoyment of this spirit is in enjoying it neat. When drinking any liquor this good, you should enjoy it in its natural state.
- 1 ¼ Parts Hornitos® Black Barrel® Tequila
- ¼ Part Agave
- ½ Part Lemon Juice
- Lemon Wedge
Combine all ingredients in a shaker with ice, shake vigorously and strain over fresh ice. Garnish with a lemon wedge.
- 2 Parts Hornitos® Plata Tequila
- ½ Part Lime Juice
- ¾ Part Simple Syrup
Muddle one jalapeño slice in a glass, combine remainder of ingredients in a shaker with ice, shake vigorously and strain into the glass over fresh ice. Garnish with a jalapeño slice.
