On Saturday, July 18th, the W Hotel Scottsdale will host the third annual Brave Wings fashion show to benefit Singleton Moms. The Arizona-based non-profit focuses on helping single parents who are battling cancer to live normal lives and providing the necessary support to their minor children. Brave Wings presents a show annually to benefit a local charity.
Included in the eight confirmed designers from around the world showing at the event are Woman’s Touch Apparel, Laurel Symone, Mabella Chic, Nazila Couture, and Kays Lamar.
Hair and makeup is being provided by Primp and Blow’s Glam Team and six Singleton Moms will have makeovers and the full red carpet experience.
Local models with runway experience who are interested in being considered for the show should send an email to: email@example.com with “MODEL2015” as the subject. Include your name, dress size, pants size, weight, height, shoe size, and phone number. Also include two photos, one headshot and one full-body.
Volunteers are also needed for the show, and no fashion event experience is necessary. About Singleton Moms
Cancer – and the treatments for it – often leaves the patient exhausted and very ill. Singleton Moms has several programs that focus on the practical day-to-day needs of the entire family while they are struggling through the single parent’s cancer crises.
Patients can receive help with their utility bills, prepared meals, and household necessities like laundry detergent, paper towels, toilet paper, etc. In addition, patients can have their home cleaned once a month by Singleton Moms’ Care Team volunteers.
Singleton Moms also provides patients with a phone directory of professionals and business that are willing to provide their services on an as-needed basis free of charge.
Programs for the children of the cancer patient are also available. Kid-friendly outings to places like Arizona Science Center, Arizona Diamondbacks games, bowling, etc., give the children the chance to meet others who are facing similar difficult challenges at home. Another program gives the chance for two kids each month to receive a $250 grant that they can use on an extracurricular activity, camping, a room makeover, or a clothing shopping spree.
Additional programs for kids include Birthday Box, a birthday party in a box that includes streamers, hats, tablecloth, plates, a $20 gift card for a cake, and a gift from their inventory of new toys. And each year Singleton Santas asks patients’ families to create a wish list of whatever they truly want. The Singleton Santas are then tasked with the shopping, wrapping, and delivering of presents, starting the second week of December.
