A tiny Chihuahua puppy was left to die in a box and tossed along the side of the road in Falkirk, Scotland. According to the Facebook page of the Scottish SPCA, the puppy was found on Friday near the Hills of the Dunipace Cemetery and was so weak the organization is calling it a “miracle” that she survived.
Now dubbed Minnie, the pooch was reported to have been on the brink of death. Whoever deserted the defenseless little pooch left no food, water or even a blanket. “She was so weak she could not lift her head, open her eyes or swallow properly. The poor pup was severely emaciated and covered in feces,” wrote Animal Control Officer Ashley Griffin. After intensive treatment by veterinarians, Minnie began to show signs of improvement and is doing fairly well, although she will need a considerable amount of time to recover.
For the duration, Minnie will be under the care of the organization in Lanarkshire and is still too young to be eligible for adoption. “We cannot understand why someone would abandon this young puppy in such a horrific way and we are urging anyone with any information to contact our animal helpline on 03000 999 999.” Abandoning any pet is illegal under the Animal Health and Welfare Act. Minnie is extremely fortunate she was found and rescued. Already, she has had numerous inquiries from potential adopters. Please remember, there are many other dogs and cats in need of homes; rescue one in honor of Minnie.
